The maximum strength of noise reduction has also been increased to give smoother, lower noise output when set to higher levels while still retaining good detail and color fidelity. The noise reduction version is now v3.5.
- The baseline exposure levels for Pentax K-S1 and K-S2 PEF format images has been changed. The default exposure levels for PEF and DNG should now match much more closely for these models.
- When copyright metadata is present in the original image the XMP copyrighted flag is now also set.
- The original embedded ICC profile name for standard format images is now displayed in the Input Profile menu.
- PNG image format libraries (libpng) updated to version 1.6.17.
- Bug Fixes:
- Canon multiple exposure mode RAW files are now properly white balanced.
- RAW images shot with Canon EF full frame lenses mounted on APS-C bodies were often overcorrected when using automatic lens correction information from the RAW file.
- Automatic lens correction metadata is now properly supported with RAW images from the Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R models.
- Samsung NX500 "normal" lossy mode compression is now supported correctly.
- Some Pentax K-S2 PEF format RAW images could causes crashes on load.

- Fixed bug with Spotlight tags specified in Save not being properly set on exported images.
- The ICC color profile of external editor images is now properly used when overwriting the intermediate image.
- Fixed issue with closing or canceling out of the serial number entry dialog which sometimes could cause the application to crash or hang.
- Fixed issue with loading of some Sigma X3F images that had been edited in Sigma Photo Pro version 6 or later.
3.0.1 - March 30, 2015 (Maintenance Release)
- New Features:
- New option to specify custom aspect ratio contraints for cropping.
- A new preview display option has been added to the Preferences dialog and View menus to allow use of nearest neighbor interpolation when viewing the image in the preview window at greater than 100% scale. Nearest neighbor will produce a slightly sharper preview appearance and some prefer it for its ability to emphasize artifacts that may be produced by some processing, such as sharpening. The smoother Lanczos based method used in prior versions will tend to better match the final upscaled output when using higher quality interpolation methods on export.
- Support added for RAW images from the Canon 5DS R and 5DS.
- Support added for RAW images from the Nikon D7200.
- Support added for RAW images from the Samsung NX500.
- Support added for RAW images from the Olympus SH-2.
- Support added for RAW images from the Panasonic DMC-TZ71.
- Support added for ORI format RAW images created by the Olympus E-M5 Mark II when using the high resolution mode and shooting RAW+JPG.
- Improvements:
- Improvements made to the v3 Luminance and Luminance Grain Smoothness noise reduction processing, particularly for images that have very high incidence of speckle type noise in the deep shadows.
- The v3 Color and Color Aliasing noise reduction filters are now applicable to to monochrome processing and applied prior to monochrome conversion. In some cases use of Color noise reduction can give radically reduced noise levels with monochrome conversions, especially those based on RGB channel mixers.
- Now supports the full 64 megapixel output for high resolution mode ORF images from the Olympus E-M5 Mark II. Previously high resolution mode RAW images were automatically downsized images to match the 40 megapixel output used by the camera for its JPEG conversions.
- Decreased the minimum scale size for preview display to 1% from the previous minimum of 5% which allows extremely large images to be viewed at smaller sizes and on smaller monitors more easily.
- LittleCMS color management libraries updated to version 2.7.
- Bug Fixes:
- Fixed some of the Extreme Highlight Recovery parameters for Fujifilm X-Trans 200% and 400% DR mode images. Extreme Highlight Recovery when set to levels above 25 should now work much better with images shot in one of the extended DR modes.
- Fixed an issue with the "Custom Tone" monochrome conversion method which would result in strongly overexposed output.
- Fixed an issue with the Threshold adjustment option in the Unsharp Mask sharpening method which resulted in very dark (mostly black) output if the Threshold was set above zero.
3.0 - March 2, 2015 (Major Update)
- New Features:
- New noise reduction processing for luminance and color. The new noise reduction along with previous 3.0 beta updates to RAW processing, clarity and sharpening completes a major overhaul the core image processing for version 3.0 and significantly improves Iridient Developer's already excellent image quality, especially for RAW format images.
- Support added for RAW images from the Olympus E-M5 Mark II shot in 40 megapixel high resolution, supersampled mode.
- Improvements:
- Additional improvements have been made for the preview rendering approximation at smaller scale sizes for sharpening, noise reduction and clarity adjustments on the Detail panel. Noise reduction processing with the new v3 process will extend now below 50% scale.
- Refinements have been made to the new Iridient Reveal sharpening method which reduces the appearance of speckle noise, in the shadows especially, when using very strong sharpening levels.
- Improved RAW black level handling for many Panasonic models.
- Improved RAW black level handling for many Samsung NX models.
- Bug Fixes:
- Fixes compatibility issue with Mac OS X 10.6 systems.
- Fixes image preview centering issue when resizing the image window on Mac OS X 10.6 systems.

- Fixes an issue with automatic loading of older "rdsf" format image settings sidecars.
- Fixes an issue with the automatic loading of embedded camera tone curves from Leaf MOS format images.
- Fixes an issue loading some RAW images from the Samsung NX1 which use 12 bits/channel mode.
- Fixes an issue where exported Pentax 645Z TIFF images would be mis-identified as RAW format when reloading into Iridient Developer.
- Fixes an issue with the "preserve luminosity" option for the monochrome channel mixers where some value combinations could give poor or all black or all white output.
3.0 beta 5 - February 12, 2015 (Major Update - 3rd Public Beta)
- New Features:
- Added support for saving settings subsets to disk (aka "presets") which makes it easy to save and apply only specific adjustments, for example just sharpening, without changing other image adjustments and without having to go through a more complicated copy/paste operation.
- Now supports grouping settings files and presets into subfolders in the Settings window popup menu.
- Iridient Developer 3 is now using new file extensions for it's settings files (".idsf") and presets (".idpre") to better help distinguish the newer settings from the older settings files which used ".rdsf". Internally they are for the most part identical and all share the same XML text format. Iridient Developer 3 can open all of them. Iridient Developer 2 will not support the preset (".idpre") files which contain just subsets of the full settings and won't support some of the new adjustment options added in version 3.
- New dialog for saving settings and presets which allows for selection of just certain adjustments and the ability to create subfolders for grouping settings and preset files.
- Clarity and sharpening processing stages now previewed at all image preview scale (zoom) sizes. Sharpening preview estimates at smaller scale sizes around 50% are also much improved.
- I have now fully transitioned to a new super wide gamut (color range) internal RGB color space for some operations which is based on the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) color primaries. This is a bit wider and more specifically designed for use with data from modern digital sensors in mind. My previous internal RGB space which was based on ProPhoto primaries that are also very wide gamut, but primarily designed many years ago primarily for film based workflows.
- The "Working Profile" popup menu has been moved to the Curves tab panel and relabeled "RGB Curves Color Space" as this option is now only applicable to the RGB curves adjustments.
- New Help button added to the Settings window to make the Help documentation more easily accessible. A keyboard shortcut (command+control+?) has now been added to jump directly to information on many of the adjustments in the Settings window.
- All of the RGB based monochrome conversion methods have now been migrated over to a new super wide gamut (color range) internal RGB color space which should help improve dynamic range in some cases and provide a more consistent user experience with these adjustments. Previously the RGB based monochrome conversions were applied in the user specified "working space" and this could result in varying results depending on the chosen color space.
- Two all new "v3" monochrome mixer conversion options on the Mono tab panel that feature some amazing new improvements to both noise levels and apparent detail, especially for some red channel heavy mixes! Many of these same improvements have been applied to the standard "Channel Mixer" as well.
- New Preferences dialog option to use the same scale (zoom) and position for all images. With this option enabled the scale and position remains the same when switching from image to image rather than each image preserving its own specific scale and positioning information.
- Output color space (ICC profile) is now specified alongside the image file format in the Save and Batch dialogs!
- Removed most all color management configuration options from individual image settings and relocated to more sensible locations including the Preferences dialog, the Save/Batch windows and the Histogram window. These changes hopefully should make it much easier to manage color management settings and while being much more flexible than the old global "override" preferences option.
- Added basic preset choices (sepia, cyanotype, platinum, etc) to the Mono tab panels Toning popup menu.
- Output color space (ICC profile) is now specified alongside the image file format in the Save and Batch dialogs!
- Support added for RAW images from the Nikon D5500.
- Support added for RAW images from the Olympus E-M5 Mark II (with exception of 40/64MP multishot mode).

- Improvements:
- The documentation (Apple Help) has now been fully updated for all new version 3 adjustments and changes.
- I have switched the RAW camera defaults for all models to the new Iridient Reveal sharpening method (was mostly using Hybrid Sharpen in the past).
- I have switched the RGB Curves Color Spaces for all camera defaults to the Iridient Internal RGB spaces (base on ACES plus sRGB tone curve). I was using an inconsistent mix of sRGB, AdobeRGB, MelissaRGB and ProPhoto in the past depending on camera model. Without any RGB curve edits this change has no impact, but this should help make many user's experience with editing RGB curves more consistent going forward.
- Copy/paste of settings subsets (command+option+C) has now been updated with an all new dialog, instead of sub menus, to make it easier pick the adjustment(s) you want to copy. All new processing adjustments added in version 3 are now also available for copy/paste.
- Further refinements to the new v3 Saturation adjustment.
- A note regarding some of the more commonly used keyboard shortcuts has been added to the Curves and Camera Curves panels.
- Text readout fields for the tone curves panels has been updated to include more precise floating point values.
- The tone curve's keyboard increments (arrows) have been adjusted to better round to whole or even partial values.
- Greatly reduced memory usage for Clarity by half! Which should help improve performance for this processing too.
- Link to the online version of the Apple Help documentation added to the Help file.
- Updated to latest PNG image format libraries (v1.6.16).
- Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue with previous beta 4 where Fill Light adjustment would not be active without some other Exp panel settings also being non-zero.

- New core RAW processing (demosaic) methods for Bayer and X-Trans sensors. There are now 4 (3 for X-Trans) alternate color and 3 monochrome RAW processing methods in addition to the prior (v2) methods available in earlier versions of Iridient Developer.
- All new Vibrance adjustment. Requires Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later.
- New v3 Saturation adjustment method.
- Brightness Shadows/Midtones/Highlights adjustments have been reworked to automatically take advantage of existing Highlight Recovery processing and full dynamic range of RAW image data. The v3 version of these controls should better preserve contrast and take better advantage of RAW dynamic range in the deep shadows and extreme highlights.
- Contrast adjustment has been refined to use a S curve style adjustment that preserves the full dynamic range of the RAW image data and a "saturation neutral" option has been added as well. The prior linear contrast adjustment continues to be available through a popup menu.
- All new neighborhood adaptive Shadows/Highlights adjustments. Requires Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later.
- All new Fill Light adjustment. Similar to adjusting Exposure/Brightness, but use non-linear tone mapping to better retain maximum highlight levels and overall dynamic range.
- Added Toning to the Mono tab pane (these can be used with color conversions too, though primarily targeted for monocrhome work). All new mono tone and split toning methods plus the prior 3 zone warm/cool toning has been separated out from use of this adjustment for white balance so it's use with monochrome is more obvious.
- Settings sidecar files can now be stored in a "Iridient Developer Settings" subfolder alongside the original images in addition to previous the 3 storage location options (Application Support folder, custom folder location or as sidecars). See Preferences for setting these options.

- Export EXIF fields for both shutter speed and exposure time and aperture and f-number, if one or the other exists, for all camera models. Previously Iridient Developer would convert these fields and output both options for some camera models, but not all. Some manufacturers use one field, some the other, and it can make metadata comparisons difficult.
- No longer writes copyright metadata if field is all whitespace characters.
- Now automatically opens duplicated image(s).
- Removed dire warning message when duplicating image(s).
